Currier Museum of Art
Manchester, NH

Opened in 1929, The Currier Museum of Art is one of the country’s finest regional museums. ABA’s design has made the Museum more visible, accessible, and has attracted an expanded and diversified audience. The 73,000sf renovation and expansion provides a new entrance, educational spaces, a new 180-seat auditorium, and extensive new gallery space for permanent and special exhibitions. The design features places to pause and enjoy views of dramatic interior spaces, including an enclosed ‘Winter Garden’ which incorporates the historic facade and offers a unique, year-round space for the Museum café, receptions and performance for up to 200 people. This project received a 2009 American Institute of Architects Merit Award for Design Excellence; a 2009 Excellence in Architecture Award and a People’s Choice Award from the American Institute of Architects-New Hampshire; and a 2009 Honor Award Citation from the Boston Society of Architects.
